Neighborhood Watch

  • Law enforcement officers can't be everywhere at once, but you and your neighbors can blanket your neighborhood. You're the ones who really know what's going on in your neighborhood.
  • Put that neighborhood know-how to work. It's simple: just use your eyes and ears - - then your telephone. If you spot something suspicious, call the police immediately at (877) 275-5273. Call 911 for an emergency or crime in progress.
  • Don't try to stop a criminal yourself - - it can be dangerous.
  • Neighbors working together in cooperation with law enforcement make one of the best crime fighting teams around.
  • For more information on how to start your own NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH on your block, call the BHA Office at (310) 471-8712 or email to my.bha@verizon.net.

WHEN RETURNING HOME, ALWAYS CHECK YOUR GARAGE AND SURROUNDING AREA BEFORE GETTING OUT OF YOUR CAR. NEVER GET OUT OF YOUR CAR IF SOMETHING SEEMS UNUSUAL. IF ANYONE MATCHING THE ABOVE-DESCRIBED SUSPECT IS OBSERVED, PLEASE CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY AND REFER TO THIS BULLETIN. RESIDENTS OF THE BEL AIR AREA ARE REMINDED THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY RESIDE IN ONE OF THE SAFEST COMMUNITIES IN LOS ANGELES, THEY SHOULD REVISIT THEIR HOME SECURITY. RESIDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO LOCK THEIR DOORS AND WINDOWS, ACTIVATE THEIR ALARM SYSTEMS AND MAINTAIN A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THEIR NEIGHBORS.

FURTHERMORE, RESIDENTS SHOULD PLACE A PADLOCK ON ANY SIDE YARD OR BACKYARD ACCESS GATE. RESIDENTS SHOULD STRONGLY CONSIDER PLACING THEIR EXPENSIVE OR RARELY USED JEWELRY IN AREAS OTHER THAN THE MASTER BEDROOM CLOSET AND MASTER BATHROOM.

WHILE AWAY FOR THE WEEKEND OR VACATION, NOTIFY YOUR ALARM COMPANY AND REQUEST EXTRA PATROL. ASK A FRIEND OR NEIGHBOR TO CHECK YOUR RESIDENCE. HAVE YOUR MAIL AND NEWSPAPER STOPPED OR PICKED UP BY A NEIGHBOR OR FRIEND. UTILIZE LIGHT TIMERS AND CONSIDER LEAVING A CAR PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY.

IF RESIDENTS OBSERVE ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY IN PROGRESS, PLEASE CALL 911 IMMEDIATELY AND REFER TO THIS BULLETIN.
